Every Christian has wondered at least once: what is Halloween really about? We’ve all heard about its dangers and the spiritual side of this celebration.
But today, I want to talk about something else — about what we should do. Because if we simply let things go as they are, in 5–10 years we’ll lose an entire generation.
This “leaven” has already produced its fruits — and sadly, it has taken deep root in our society.
🕯️ What Halloween Really Is
To resist something, we first need to understand what it is.
Halloween is not just a “fun holiday.” It’s a celebration connected with unclean forces, with the occult world, with a distorted idea of joy.
Even if most children and adults don’t realize what they’re celebrating, that doesn’t remove the spiritual consequences.
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
The world is spiritual.
And when a person opens themselves to something — even “just for fun” — they still let it into their heart.
There is no such thing as an empty soul.
If a child’s heart isn’t filled with Christ, it will seek joy somewhere else — even if that joy comes from dark costumes, candy, and “fun” rituals.
👿 Why It’s Dangerous
Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, once said:
“Once a year, your children — Christian children — will worship Satan.”
Even if that worship is unconscious, it’s still real.
The problem isn’t only in the masks and decorations — it’s that a worldview is being shaped through them.
As one preacher said:
“It’s not necessary for people to be members of the Church of Satan. It’s enough for them to have a satanic worldview.”
Halloween is a way to plant satanic images, symbols, and meanings in the human mind.
And if the vessel of the soul is empty — it’s easy to fill it with any kind of filth. There is direct worship, and there is indirect worship — that is, unconscious worship.
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.”
And one of the preachers of the unclean — of the satanic — once said:
“It doesn’t matter if people are members of our satanic church. What matters is that they adopt a satanic worldview, which will lead to a satanic way of life — and that, in turn, will eventually lead, if not in the first, then in the second or third generation, to the worship of Satan.”
So sooner or later, this will happen. It works just like the Overton window — what once seemed unacceptable slowly becomes normal.
And Halloween serves exactly that purpose: it implants a satanic worldview into innocent minds.
Now ask yourself — can you pour anything into a vessel that is already full?
Of course not. But if the vessel is empty, or only half-filled, then anything can be poured into it.
That’s exactly what happens when our children lack spiritual education and guidance.
They start absorbing everything around them — especially what they shouldn’t.
Most of what they learn now comes from the Internet, and the smartphone has become the most powerful preacher of our time.
If we don’t watch over our children, someone else will — and they’ll fill those young minds with whatever they want.
If we ignore this, sooner or later, we’ll lose our children entirely.
✝️ On Spiritual Deception and Nurturing Faith in Schools
The enemy never says he’s the enemy.
He always disguises himself as a friend — promising joy, fun, and “nothing to worry about.”
In our time, evil often hides behind entertainment and “modern traditions.”
📚 Why There’s Halloween in Schools, but No Easter

We live in a country with a Christian history, yet schools rarely speak about Christ.
There are no Easter plays, no parables told, no lessons about the meaning of the Resurrection.
Though it could be so simple and beautiful — some children could play the apostles, others tell the parables, someone could portray Christ.
But according to law, schools are considered apolitical and non-religious.
We’re told that speaking about God might “offend the feelings of non-believers.”
And so it happens: everything sacred is pushed out of life, and something foreign takes its place.
🕯️ Where It All Began
Back in 1962, the U.S. Congress banned the Lord’s Prayer in schools. Before that, each day began with this prayer, and only then did lessons begin.
It seemed like a small thing — but within a year, the results were clear: all the good indicators among children declined sharply, while everything destructive grew.
It’s natural — when a person stops turning to God, something else takes His place in the heart.
⚖️ Can We Speak About Faith in School?
Actually, yes — we can. Faith itself isn’t forbidden — only religious indoctrination is. But ethics, culture, and the history of religion are completely acceptable subjects.
When schools organize trips to holy places or hold meetings with youth groups, children show great interest and genuine curiosity.
The problem isn’t in the children — they thirst for meaning. The problem lies in us — in our fear of standing for the truth. Principals are often afraid to “break the law” or lose their jobs, so it’s easier to forbid than to understand.
💬 Why Faith Isn’t Just a Personal Matter
We’re often told: “It doesn’t matter what you believe in — the main thing is to be a good person.”
But faith isn’t just an idea — it’s a program for life. It shapes our actions, our thoughts, and our emotions.
If someone has a good heart but follows the wrong program — they’ll still go astray.
But if someone’s heart is darkened, yet their faith is true — that faith will change them for the better.
The Holy Fathers used to say:
“A kind word can make an evil man good, but an evil word can make a good man evil.”
That’s why it’s so important what the soul is nourished by.
Everything begins with worldview — with what we teach our children.
🌱 Where Evil Begins
Halloween and other foreign holidays do not start with costumes. They begin in the mind — when distortion and false meaning take root.
Remember the words of the Psalm:
“Blessed is he who breaks your infants against the rock.” — Psalm 136:9 (Old Testament). (This verse refers to the revenge of the Jews against the Babylonians, who cruelly treated their children during the exile. It is a figurative expression symbolizing punishment of enemies for their cruelty.)
This is not about children, but about the Babylonian infants — the seeds of false thoughts that must be shattered against the rock of faith. If a seed of lies is not destroyed immediately, it will grow into an oak tree, and cutting it down later will be much harder.
The same is true in spiritual life: while a worldview is still forming, that is the easiest time to sow truth.

👨👩👧 What We Can Do
We cannot wait for someone from above to change the system. But each parent, each family, can become the beginning of change.
Hold morning gatherings dedicated to Christian holidays. Teach children to see the light, to rejoice in goodness. Unite with other parents and speak openly about faith.
As long as we remain silent, darkness will speak for us.
Each of us must begin with ourselves. By setting an example, those around us will follow, almost unconsciously.
🙏 Prayer — Our Answer to the World of Darkness
Some priests hold services on the night of Halloween — at the very time when satanic gatherings and thoughtless “fun” occur worldwide.
This is no coincidence. When some serve evil, others pray to God, and spiritual balance occurs.
Every prayer has power — whether addressed to God or to darkness. If it had no effect, no one would have conducted these rituals for centuries.
The worldly aspect of Halloween seems like a game, but behind it lies real spiritual energy. That is why believers must oppose it — through prayer, fasting, and good deeds.
🕯️ The Experience of a Family Who Did Not Fear
One family in France shared how they resisted pressure from school.
Even in Catholic schools, children were forced to participate in Halloween celebrations, under the guise of “tolerance.”
Talking about God was forbidden — “that is indoctrination” — but speaking of darkness was allowed.
What did the parents do? They dressed their children as angels with swords and said:
“This day is not for fun, but for the fight against evil.”
So the children did not merely participate — they learned to distinguish good from evil, to stand against darkness rather than play with it.
⚠️ Why We Cannot Play with Evil
Many think, “It’s just a game” — playing the devil in a performance, wearing a mask of evil.
But even such images affect the soul. Those who play the unclean involuntarily connect with it in their thoughts.
Just as a person is sanctified when reverently thinking of God,
so too is a person defiled when in contact with evil.
We should not be afraid to speak about Satan, but we must remember that our attitude toward him can only be one: rejection and prayer: “…and deliver us from evil.”
👨👩👧 What Parents Can Do
The problem is not only with the system — often parents themselves take their children to these “holidays,” thinking it’s harmless.
But if we understand the spiritual essence of what is happening, we must act.
Fill children’s souls with Christ. When the heart is full of goodness, evil cannot enter. The child simply will not be interested in participating in darkness.
Create positive traditions. Hold morning gatherings, celebrations of light, discussions about goodness and faith. When children see joy in the light, they don’t need to seek it in darkness.
Unite with like-minded people. Parents can act through councils, committees, petitions, and appeals to school directors.
Demand equality. If the school is allowed to celebrate Halloween as a “cultural event,” then the right to celebrate Christian holidays — Christmas, Easter, Name Day — must also be demanded.
⚖️ The Right to Protect One’s Faith
We often do not defend our rights — and then others simply take them.
If Christians remain silent, their place is occupied by forces promoting the opposite.
But when we spiritually resist, pray, act, and unite — evil loses power. It does not disappear immediately, but it begins to slow down.
That is why one thing is important now — do not retreat and hold firm.
Time works not only against us — it also works against the enemy. Our task is to endure until the light ultimately triumphs.

Conclusion: Everything Begins with Prayer and Nurturing Faith
Looking back at history, it is clear — the struggle against evil and temptation has always existed. In the past, it was carried out radically, sometimes even cruelly — recall the witch hunts. Yet, as one well-known Satanist said, the “witch hunts” themselves became the best advertisement for Satanism. When the innocent were killed, it only provoked the opposite effect: those who were persecuted and condemned were turned into “martyrs.” In this way, evil, through provocations, became entrenched in people’s minds.
Today, Satanism no longer hides. As the film The Devil’s Advocate puts it: “Who will say this century is not my century?”
Now it has taken an open form. Once, it was considered brave to confess a sin, but today it is prestigious to say: “I’m gay,” and tomorrow, perhaps, “I am a Satanist.” Everything begins with play — with dressing up, with holidays like Halloween. But behind it lies a spiritual deception.
In the past, every aspect of a person’s life was connected to God.
In the morning — prayer: “Lord, bless me.” Before a meal — the sign of the cross; after — thanksgiving. Men, going to work, would remove their hats, pray: “Our Father,” and then start mowing. No work began without God.
Life was sanctified by faith. And where God is present, there is no place for the devil.
The principle is simple: the less God there is, the more room for Satan.
When a person entered school, boys removed their headwear — not out of politeness, but because classrooms displayed icons, and lessons began with prayer. Sundays reminded everyone of Christ’s Resurrection. Everything was imbued with meaning.
Today, that is gone. Instead, there is a cult of the body, semi-naked images, and the promotion of lust and immorality. It is no wonder that families are falling apart and fewer children are being born. People say that children often died in the past. But even today, children die — physically and spiritually. Back then, more children were born because life was seen as a gift from God.
If parents want to build a strong family and raise healthy children — spiritually, morally, and emotionally — they must not participate in such holidays. If someone has already participated, they should repent and confess. Especially parents — for the responsibility for the child lies with them.
When a child disobeys and gravitates toward evil, it is the result of missed opportunities. One priest said: “Repent before God that you were unable to raise your child properly.”
Through repentance and prayer, the family begins to change, because God acts where He is invoked.
Today, children more often listen not to their parents, but to bloggers.
The commandment “Honor your father and mother” is being destroyed.
This is another reason why evils like Halloween take hold — family authority and spiritual foundations are weakened. Yet all is not lost.
With God, everything is possible.
The Lord said: “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Therefore, one must begin with prayer — personal, family, and congregational. If we cannot change the system, we can strengthen ourselves and our community.
It is possible to organize a congregational prayer for guiding children and spiritually protecting them from darkness. Let it become an annual tradition. After all, bad information spreads widely, while good information rarely does. If even half of the people speak of God as actively as the world speaks of evil, much can change.
Today, children need to be shown the true nature of evil.
In the past, fairy tales taught that good triumphs over evil, that evil is ugly and repulsive. Now, evil is presented as “beautiful” and appealing. This is a dangerous deception.
Children must be shown that behind the play lies a spiritual reality.
A joke is not harmless fun. In every joke, there is only a fraction of jest; the rest is truth. And the first jester — is Satan. Everything begins “pretend,” but ends for real. Nothing happens without reason — neither good nor bad.
What a person sows, that they will reap — even on the level of thoughts and feelings.
🎃 As believers, we often ask ourselves: how should a Christian respond to cultural traditions like Halloween?
Let’s pause and reflect — is it just entertainment, or does it carry a deeper meaning?

Conclusion
🧒 How to Protect Children
- Fill the child’s soul with light.
Until we give children joy in Christ, they will seek it in imitations.
Therefore:
Give them joy in God.
Let church holidays be alive, joyful, and inclusive for children.
- Teach them to distinguish good from evil.
Explain that even “playing at evil” is not just a game.
Pay attention to what they watch.
Today, the phone is the main preacher. If we don’t monitor content, someone else is raising our children.
- Unite.
Parents can collectively defend the right not to participate in Halloween and propose alternatives — celebrations of goodness and light.
🙏 What We Can Do Today
- Prayer is the first and greatest power. Organize congregational prayers — for children, for schools, for society.
- Information counteraction.
Speak, write, make videos, share experiences. If there are 10 pieces of bad information for every 1 of good, balance will not be achieved.
- Community movement.
Let every parish have initiatives from parents, teachers, and priests.
- Christian alternatives.
Organize in schools celebrations of light, goodness, mercy, creative morning events, and skits about Christ’s parables.
💡 The Key — Don’t Be Indifferent
Halloween is not just a date on the calendar. It is a spiritual attack aimed at children’s hearts.
But if the soul is filled with Christ, evil cannot enter. The less God there is, the more room there is for Satan. Everything begins with personal faith, with family prayer, with nurturing love for God.
We do not defeat Halloween with protests — we defeat it with light. Light is stronger than darkness.
The Christian’s main weapons are faith, prayer, and awareness of responsibility for their family. If each of us starts with ourselves, our home, our prayer — society will begin to change.
Where God is, there is no place for fear or darkness.
